What do you mean when you use the word “politics” or “political”?

A friend of mine said political talk is a sales pitch for what you want the government to do or not do. I disagree. I think it’s a discussion about what we want the government to do or not do.

I think K-12 education should be a place where young people can learn to have civil political discussions. What do you think? Let us know on our First Coast Freethought Society Facebook group found at this link:

The Duval County School Board just voted 5-2 to ban volunteers from wearing apparel that has a “political issues” message on it. The discussion about the policy change made clear that they weren’t in agreement as to what “political” meant. In the era of Christian Nationalism, a cross might be considered a display of a political position.
